2- 3 December 2021 North-East Asia Regional Power Interconnection and Cooperation Forum 2021

2 December 2021

The North-East Asia Regional Power Interconnection and Cooperation (NEARPIC) Forum 2021, jointly organized by UNESCAP and Renewable Energy Institute (REI), assessed the outcome of COP26 from the perspectives of North-East Asian countries and opportunities for strengthening power interconnection as a strategy for achieving carbon neutrality in the subregion.  It also made an in-depth look at Japan’s roadmap for energy transition with the goal of promoting the potential for regional power interconnection as a feasible option for reducing GHG emissions in Japan.

Furthermore, the Forum discussed ESCAP’s project on North-East Asia Green Power Corridor Roadmap, that closely examines the energy landscape in the subregion and proposes feasible pathways for regional power interconnections using renewable sources of energy.
