Symposium to launch discussion on phase out of coal-fired power stations in Japan The Future of Energy Investment after the Paris Agreement Accelerated Decarbonization Trend

At COP 23 in November last year, the "Powering Past Coal Alliance" was formed initiated by the UK and Canadian Government that have pledged to phase out coal-fired power stations. The formulation of this alliance was based on the scientific research by Climate Analytics, a think tank based in Berlin, which has now carried out an analysis of implications of the Paris Agreement for coal use in Japan.
A symposium to launch the publication of the report “Science based Coal-Phase Out Timeline for Japan” was held in Tokyo on 29 May 2018.
