Renewable Energy Institute and the Ministry of Energy of Mongolia and the Asia Development Bank jointly organized a workshop on 8 March 2018.
Asian Development Bank leads a research on the ‘Strategy for Northeast Asia Power System Interconnection’ as a technical assistance project for the Mongolian government, aiming for cross-regional usage of the abundant renewables in Mongolia.
Amid the remarkable deployment of solar and wind across the world, especially in Asia, grid operation is required to be in coordination with the electricity market, to enable massive integration of variable renewables.
Session 1 discussed experiences and challenges of integrating renewables to grids, followed by Session 2 which discussed deployment of renewables through grid interconnection across Asia, with a focus on the ‘Strategy for Northeast Asia Power System Interconnection.’
